2026 ATP Tennis Calendar: Estoril Returns, Metz Departs, and More!

Estoril's Comeback

Tennis fans rejoice! The Estoril Open is making a triumphant return to the ATP circuit in 2026. After a brief hiatus in 2025, the tournament, held under an ATP license since 2015, will grace the calendar as an ATP 250 event in July, perfectly positioned a week after the prestigious Wimbledon Championships.

Calendar Shuffle

But that's not the only change. Get ready for some calendar shuffling! Marseille's ATP 250 tournament is trading its February slot for an October appearance. Meanwhile, Stockholm's ATP 250 event will shift from October to November, promising an exciting late-season showdown.

Metz Bids Farewell

Sadly, not all news is good news. The ATP has announced that Metz will no longer host a tournament. While the specific reasons weren't detailed, the departure leaves a gap in the schedule and marks the end of an era for tennis in Metz.

A Packed Season

The 2026 season promises to be a whirlwind of tennis action, boasting a jam-packed 59-event calendar. With nine ATP Masters 1000 tournaments, 16 ATP 500 events, and 29 ATP 250 events, there's something for every tennis enthusiast. Notably, seven of the Masters 1000 tournaments will be extended to 12 days, providing even more high-stakes competition.

"With premium events in some of the most iconic cities, we're showcasing what makes our sport so special," ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi stated. This sentiment underscores the global appeal and prestige of the upcoming season.

Gaudenzi added, "Last season, we saw record-breaking attendance, and we're excited to keep that momentum going into next year." The anticipation is building for another season of thrilling matches and packed stadiums.

A Later Start and Familiar Finals

Players will enjoy a slightly delayed start to the season, with the United Cup kicking things off on January 2nd. This $10 million mixed-team tournament, a collaboration between Tennis Australia and the ATP and WTA tours, allows for a bit more rest after the demanding Davis Cup finals.

Turin will once again play host to the prestigious ATP Finals, while the Next Gen ATP Finals will remain in Jeddah for a fourth consecutive year, fostering the growth of the sport's future stars.
